Welcome to the HAL collection
of the CoMeT laboratory (UR 24344)

Located within the Pôle Biologie Santé (PBS) at the University of Poitiers, the CoMeT laboratory – Communication cellulaire et Microenvironnement Tumoral (UR 24344) [Cellular Communication and Microenvironment of the Tumor] – is a research unit created on 1 January 2023 and affiliated to the Faculty of Fundamental and Applied Sciences.

As its acronym suggests, the laboratory studies the interactions established between cancer cells and their tumour microenvironment and their implications in tumour progression.

More specifically, the research activity of the CoMeT laboratory is based on the expertise of its members in intercellular communication by diffusible factors (neurotrophins and their TRK receptors), vesicular transport (extracellular vesicles, exosomes) and direct communication (gap/communicating junctions). Of particular interest is the ability of these communication systems to interact synergistically and increase the invasive potential of tumour cells through the formation of exosomes and/or invasive structures such as invadopodia.

The laboratory 's research activity benefits from the variety of skills of its members (biochemists, cell biologists, physiologists) covering all the aspects essential to a study ranging from the molecule to the organism and carried out at different complementary levels, from the exploitation of bioinformatics databases (in silico analysis), to in vitro and in vivo tests and even patient samples, studied using space biology approaches.

As part of cancer research at the Poitiers site, but also as teachers covering all the courses in the Life Sciences bachelor's degree, the Biology-Health and Health Engineering master's degrees (Faculty of Fundamental and Applied Sciences), and the pharmacy course (Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy), we are at your disposal for any questions you may have about our research and the training courses we provide.
